About

Welcome to the Twelve Nine Ride blog.

Lord-willing, beginning July 16th, my brother and I are planning to bike from our home in Syracuse, NY to Eastern Camp at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg Virginia. The goal of our bike ride is to raise $10,000 towards the ongoing medical expenses of Karah, a young women with a painful disorder.

As some of you may know, Karah is the daughter of missionaries in Brazil. Karah has a severe form of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a disease of the body’s connective tissues. The condition causes her severe joint and eye pain and also recently led to a series of seizures.

All donations are greatly appreciated, and all proceeds will go directly to helping Karah. Using the donate button, you can make a donation per mile (based on the 476 miles we plan to ride) or any amount of your choice.

We have named this blog after a verse in the Bible found in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.”. We approach this trip in the spirit of weakness and ask that God will provide the strength necessary to carry it out, just as he has provided Karah strength through her journey with Ehlers-Danlos.

Thank you, and God Bless!
